Values and Ethos
Lowca Community School strives to enrich the childhood for all of its pupils promoting the highest standards of teaching and learning. Like one big happy family, children are supported and encouraged in their progress through the curriculum. We aim to ensure each child is stretched to fulfil their potential in a positive and praising atmosphere where talent and achievement are celebrated.
Thinking about applying for Lowca School
Lowca School has an excellent pupil to adult ratio which means children get more “support” and “stretch” as required. It means we really get to know each individual and can nurture each child in a family atmosphere. Your child will benefit from good teaching and learning as recognised in our latest Ofsted report. We are proud of the progress our pupils make. Please read some of our newsletters here on the site to get a flavour of the kind of experiences your child will enjoy here at Lowca School.

About Lowca School
Situated in the seaside village of Lowca, near Whitehaven, our School is a hidden gem sited in an old school building built in 1884. We are proud of our warm and welcoming atmosphere and we cater for students aged four to eleven years. The school provides opportunities to, and support for, every child to fulfil their potential. We nurture the development of the whole child, intellectually, socially, physically and emotionally. The school follows and extends the National Curriculum in a cross curricular way which encourages enjoyment and achievement. Opportunities for learning and fun extend beyond the school day at our after school clubs. School starts from 8:50am with doors open from 8.30am. We finish at 3.15pm but offer wrap around care until 5:00pm
