Lowca Community School provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children, which is adapted to meet individual needs and abilities, and takes into account that each student has individual and unique needs.  Children may have Special Educational Needs (SEND) throughout, or at any time during their school life. Through formative and summative assessments we can identify children who may need further support and provide a range of interventions to help the access, keep up, consolidate or extend their learning. This includes support with curriculum subjects, medical and social, emotional & mental health (SEMH) needs.

Our SEND Policy  ensures that curriculum planning and assessment recognise the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the student.  Teachers take into account in their planning all special educational needs within the class and adaptive teaching enables each student to participate effectively in all curriculum and assessment activities, in addition to broader aspects of the school’s life.

Our SEND Team in school is Jennifer Walker (SENDCo), Linda Ditchfield (Assistant SENDCo) and Franki High (Early Years Assistant SENDCo)
